Eğer "ne renk" gibi bir soru sormak istiyorsak, renk kelimesini de hemen soru kelimesinden sonra yazmalıyız.

-What colour is your shirt? -It is blue

Saat, "What time is it?" şeklinde sorulur.

-What time is it? -It is eight o'clock.

Turan wants ice cream. Does Turan want ice cream? What does Turan want? We watch news on television. Do you watch news on television? What do you watch on television? I drive a Toyota. What do you drive? What do you do after school? I study and do my homework after school.

Not: İngilizce öğrenirken ''what'' ve ''who'' sorularının kullanıldığı yere göre nesne veya özne durumunda olabileceğini göreceğiz. Buradaki soru kalıpları incelendiğinde, "what" hep nesne görevinde olduğu anlaşılır.  Konuya aşinalık kazanmanız ve gereksiz karışıklığa sebep olmamak için, özne olduğu durumu henüz incelemedik. "who" sorusunu; hem özne hem de nesne olarak detaylı olarak inceleyeceğiz. Kullanım olarak aynı olacaklarından, what sorusunun özne olduğu durumu da who ile beraber inceleyeceğiz.
